Days 6 and 7

I hate to say it, I think Day 7 is my last day. I am finding it harder and harder as the days go by to drink this disgusting lemonade. It's recommended I get at least 6 glasses a day in, the last two days I have only drank 4 because it tastes so horrible.

Plus, I've dropped 11 lbs...I don't think I want to lose much more.

And, I want energy to go snowboarding! It's been tough these last couple days I've gone riding. I accomplished a good weight loss and went 10 days without a solid meal...that is impressive in itself.

I will update later.

MC Day 4 and 5

Day 4 sucked. I almost gave in and ate soup. It didn't help that I was home all afternoon too. It's the hardest when I at home all day...alone with my thoughts...of hunger.

Day 5 wasn't AS bad, but I was out most of the day. Tonight will be a true test- I am going to a Yelp party downtown and that usually entails free food and booze. I haven't had any cravings for alcohol, and the food cravings are slowly diminishing. I hit a flow yoga class today, and got comments on how my skin looked good. Nice.

I have decided the three things I am going to eat once I am off this cleanse are: A big bowl of veggie pho, a slice of pizza, and a hamburger. Probably not all at once, since my stomach won't be able to handle all of that!

I have lost 9 lbs in total. I now weigh 122.

Day 3

I am writing this as I start Day 4.

I had been hearing that Day 3 was one of the hardest days of the cleanse. For me, it couldn't be farther from the truth. I breezed through day 3, got really hungry around 7 pm last night, but had some lemonade and felt better. Drank some Smooth Move lax tea that tastes awful but got things going.

I feel good as I start Day 4. I keep doubting if I can last til Day 10, and my original goal was 7 days. We will see.

I just still only want PIZZA. This craving will not go away.

Total weight lost so far- 8 lbs.

MC-Day 2

Tougher than Day 1, but still got through it.

Decided to go snowboarding so we prepared 6 glasses in our Nalgene bottles to bring up. I'm not going to lie-it was tough. I was so hungry after riding, and it was rather frustrating knowing I couldn't eat anything. I walked past the pizza place in the village at Keystone and it made my mouth water uncontrollably. We ran out of lemonade on the car ride home, but we managed to make it back in good time so we could make more at home right away.

I decided to do the Salt Water Flush after we got home. Read about it here: http://themastercleanse.org/salt-water-flush/

It was not easy. I'm not looking forward to doing it again, but I'll probably force myself to do it at least once more. It's the most effective way of getting stuff going, if you know what I mean.

I also felt very nauseated and dehydrated-probably from all the salt water I drank. I was also very hungry at night. I had to sleep just to fend off the hunger feeling.

On to day 3.

MC-Day 1

Day 1 of the Master Cleanse!

It wasn't that bad....the OJ day was worse. I drank about 7 glasses of lemonade but still felt dehydrated. I know I need to up my water intake. Decided to go hiking because it was unseasonably warm out-big mistake. I didn't have enough energy to finish the hike so I stopped halfway.

Around dinner I just wanted to EAT. I was sick of drinking. I couldn't stop thinking about food. I just wanted to eat something solid but I knew I couldn't. I'm actually not tempted by the food in our house right now. Most of my cravings are gone now.

I read that you crave the foods you eat while you are detoxing your body. As the days go on, you stop getting those cravings when you are all cleaned out. I hope this is true for me. I have been dreaming about food almost every night.

On to day 2.

Ease-In Day 3- Orange Juice

Ease-in day 3 was just orange juice. I was dreading this day the most, since I thought it was going to be really tough just drinking orange juice (and maple syrup). I usually get pretty bad acid reflux from drinking OJ, but I didn't this time around, mainly because of two reasons- One, we were drinking pure fresh squeezed OJ from the juicer. Two, we didn't have any food in our stomachs, so that could be another reason.

I felt OK until about lunchtime. I was getting shaky and weak, and had a hard time making another batch. I was actually eating maple syrup by itself just to get my sugar levels up. I continued to drink water as I felt dehydrated the first two days.

It's a wonder how much just a few sips of juice will do for me...I gulped half a glass and felt like new. I can feel my body responding quickly. I have to pay special attention to drinking water too. I can't believe how dehydrated I have been!

I got through it, and now it is the first morning of the Master Cleanse. The lemon drink actually tastes good..like a spicy lemonade. I already feel better and renewed.

On to Master Cleanse, Day 1.

Ease-In Day 2

Ease-In Day 2 was juicing veggies/fruits and making soups and broths. Matt and I bought a Jack Lalanne juicer from a guy off Craigslist practically brand new for $40-a huge deal since these run over $100 usually.

We juiced up carrots, and the remainder of our produce: apples, grapes, strawberries and cucumbers. I'm so glad we got this thing. I'm not good at getting my daily intake of fruits and veggies, so this will make it really easy to get that recommended dosage just by drinking it!

I also made a butternut squash soup with curry flavoring. The plan wasn't that clear about what "soups and broths" entailed, so this may have been cheating...but whatever. I didn't eat any solid food and that was the point.

I felt lethargic and had a headache towards the end of the night. I downed some juice, and felt better right away. I just need to get better about drinking more water.

"Ease-in"- Day 1

I read that it was better to do a 3 day ease-in before starting the MC so that your body is better prepared.

Ease-In Day 1 is to eat only a live food diet. Eliminate meats, dairy, and processed food. This also sadly means coffee :(

I read that nuts counted as a live/raw food, so we went ahead and got some raw nuts out of the bulk section at Sunflower Market.

In addition to that, I started the day off with two carrot/apple juices made from our power juicer. Then, I decided to head up the hill to go snowboarding for my first day of the season. I think this was a BIG mistake-I hadn't eaten much and was wiped out after a few turns.

I then ate an orange and an apple.

Ate some nuts for dinner, then cucumber slices and snowpeas.

I'm going to admit it...I AM STARVING.

Day 1 almost over.

Starting weight: 131 lbs.

Here goes.

Matt and I have decided to try the Master Cleanse Detox. I am sure you have heard of this or know of someone who has tried it. Basically, its a 10-day diet of drinking nothing but "Lemonade"- which consists of 2 tbs of fresh lemon juice, 2 tbs Grade B Maple Syrup, Cayenne pepper and 8 oz water. We need to drink at minimum 6 glasses a day and to drink whenever you felt hungry. And, we need to also drink a Salt Water Flush to induce the bowel movements daily. I am actually fearing this part the most...drinking a liter of sea salt water each day...crap. Literally.

We decided to do this for a few reasons. One, it's a quick way to lose weight. I have heard you can lose up to 20 lbs on it, but, it can quickly be gained back after the cleanse is over. I am hoping this will jumpstart our bodies into eating healthier, and make us more conscious overall about our eating habits and what we are eating.

Second, and most importantly, the detox! Our bodies have held this waste for YEARS, our whole lives probably. I keep reading about how you will feel more energized and youthful looking.

So..here we go.
